The Man Inside:

A Retreat for Men
April 11-14, 2024

On September 13, 1501, at 26 years old Michelangelo began carving his monumental statue of The David.  He explained that The David existed already inside the giant piece of marble and his role was only to chip and chisel, “liberating the figures already existent in the stone”.   The artist was retaining those sections that were of value and eliminating those which were not.

Much like il gigante (the giant), 17 foot tall piece of stone from which Michelangelo created The David, our lives each hold the promise of inspiration and artistry.  But our own Best Selves are often hidden behind stress, insecurity, and doubt.  As men, we struggle with what is valuable to retain and what to remove in our lives.  But we benefit from tools to help to decide: “What do I build on and what should I discard?

One of the best available tools is the experience, advice and inspiration from others.

This retreat will bring together a diverse group of men who are building successful lives across many disciplines and who come from a variety of backgrounds.  Some are conservative, others are progressive, some are from the deep south while others are not.  Some of us have adult children, and others have never been married.  Many grew up with an outdoors lifestyle and others spent more time inside.

This weekend we will learn what we have in common, what brings us together.  We will have an environment where conversations matter, expanding our personal vision is encouraged and inspiration is expected.  Every man deals with the stress of work, the expectations from our friends and family and our own emotional and physical health.  Competing in a complex world can be exhausting.  These few days won’t solve all our challenges, but being with other men in an outdoor setting will create a refreshed perspective and a clarity for moving forward in creating the masterpiece of our own lives.

Most of all---we will have a ton of fun, outdoors,  with other guys.
